New and Repaired Water Mains Disinfection

Using the LSL chlorinators

The Aims: To refresh staff with the skills and knowledge to disinfect new water mains as per Water Companies Codes of Practices. To show duty of care and to comply with the P.U.W.E.R. 1998 and to safely de-chlorinate and treat highly chlorinated water.

Objectives:

  • The legal aspects of water quality.
  • Water borne diseases.
  • Safe handling of Sodium Hypochlorite.
  • Chlorination techniques using the LSL chlorinators.
  • De-chlorination techniques.
  • Mathematical calculations for the chlorination processes.
  • Chlorination calculations.
  • The use of computer software.
  • The loading and downloading of smart cards.
  • Practical exercises using the chlorinators.

 

Duration: 2 Days for delegates that have achieved a certificate of competence in the 3-day course.
